Welcome to the MAX Retriever.
This system will allow you to download pre-recorded Westwood One shows and commercials to your radio station's computer and place them into your automation system.
What does my instructions folder look like?
Here is a screen capture.
Here is what to look for on your hard drive:
Audio:
C:\MAX\Call Letters\Westwod One Programming\Commercial Inventory\Instructions\WK#_MMDDYY
Audio Folder:
C:\MAX\Call Letters \Westwod One Programming\Commercial Inventory\WK#_MMDDYY
HOW TO FIND YOUR MAC ADDRESS: Go to your Start Menu, then All Programs, then Datacast, then XDClient GUI. When the program opens, click the "Retriever Setup" tab and the number next to "Adapter Mac Address" is your mac address.
MAX vs. Media Shooter:
Got some feedback from from Steve Griesbach, a Cumulus Engineer in Green Bay about Media Shooter vs. Max Retriever. He said if you are having problems with the programs "playing nice" together, uninstall both of them and then install Media Shooter First and MAX second. That should clear up any problems!
Questions About Metro Spots:
Rich Vannoy of WEW St. Louis. asked me "I assume after this week that is how I will be getting the weekly Metro spots? (from the retriever)" The answer is no.. Metro will still be using First Spin to deliver their spots. We took this transition one side of the company at a time.
MAX RETRIEVER FEEDBACK:
"The Retreiver is much easier than manually logging and downloading off the net! Great technology!" Benji Carle GM WBCF-AM/FM/TV WXFL-TV
"Working on all stations! Very easy to use... I love it!" - Michael Lane - WGAC-AM
"I have to compliment you guys. Of all the networks I deal with, your system FAR exceeds the others. Thank you for making the mind-numbing task of placing hundreds of network dubs so much easier. Everything is in an easy to grab order, and as a production director who has to do EVERY piece of production in the house, you have made Fridays a whole lot easier. Thanks!" - Kelly Pidgeon | Production / Creative Services Director | NewsRadio 1020 KDKA
"We're rocking (in a conservative talk sort of way) in Detroit. Good to spin off First Spin." - Steve Dealy, Operations Manager - WDTK-AM Detroit
WHERE'S MY MAC ADDRESS AND DO I NEED A MAC TO HAVE ONE?: A mac address is a unique number that identifies your computer, your station and where you are in the US. It has nothing to do with a Mac computer. All PC's have one. If you ever change the computer running the Retriever or if you replace the NIC card, you MUST update your mac address info by emailing Westwood One, even if the IP of the work station remains the same. Without a current mac address you may not get your commercials.
INSTALLATION TIPS:
- If you have multiple stations at your location and you have installed the retriever, you can share that folder amongst all of your stations.
- You can only install this program once per station.
- We can not complete your installation until you fill out the form here: http://setupmax.westwoodone.com/form.htm
- CHANGING THE FOLDER YOU ARE DOWNLOADING TO: To change the directory that the Retriever places commercials in, follow the directions here.
Once we are ready to convert your station to the MAX Retriever you will get an email from us, so it is very important we have the current contact information for the people who work with file downloads. After you have installed The Retriever, please continue using our current systems until you are asked to migrate to the new system.
MOVING FROM FIRST SPIN TO THE MAX RETRIEVER:
We've been moving stations from First Spin to the MAX Retriever. If you do not see spots in your MAX folder, check to see if the Retriever is running. Here is how:
- Hit START.. PROGRAMS - DATACAST XD - XD Client GUI.. on the fourth tab is Retriever SETUP - copy the Adapter MAC Address and send it to Bianca_Shillingford@westwoodone.com. If you ever change the computer running the Retriever or if you replace the NIC card.. you MUST update your mac address info with Westwood One, even if the IP of the work station remains the same.
- If there is no Adapter Mac Address - Hit START.. PROGRAMS - DATACAST XD - XD Agent - If a screen pops up (*that means the retriever was not running) and you can now go back to see if you have a MAC Address.
If you have any questions, call or email anytime. We are working with over 2000 stations at this time so please include your call letters in your email.
